How to Play

A target number appears at the top of the screen - for example, 342. Below it you see three columns labelled Hundreds, Tens, and Ones. Use the plus and minus buttons in each column to add or remove blocks until your stacks represent the correct number. A running total updates automatically so you can see how close you are. Press Check when you think you have built the right number.

Early rounds use two-digit numbers; later rounds introduce three-digit numbers up to 999. You have three attempts per number before the game reveals the answer and moves on. Each correct build earns a point.

What Kids Learn

Place value is the cornerstone of our entire number system. Understanding that the digit 3 in 342 means three hundreds, not simply three, is the conceptual leap that makes multi-digit arithmetic, decimals, and later algebra all make sense.

Physically building numbers with blocks - even virtual ones - creates a concrete mental model that is far more durable than memorising rules. Children who can visualise hundreds, tens, and ones as distinct quantities are much less likely to make column-alignment errors in written addition and subtraction.

Tips for Parents

Base-ten blocks (available at most toy or school supply shops) are a wonderful companion to this game. Let your child use physical blocks alongside the screen, then see if they can build the same number both ways. For extra challenge, say a three-digit number aloud and ask your child to build it without seeing it written first - this adds an auditory processing dimension that deepens understanding.
