How to Play
Fraction Pizza shows you a fraction at the top of the screen, for example 3/4. Below it sits a pizza divided into the right number of equal slices. Your job is to tap exactly the right number of slices to match the fraction shown. When you have selected the correct amount, tap Check to confirm your answer.
The game covers fractions with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8. Each game has 10 rounds. Correct answers earn a point and trigger a satisfying snap animation. A wrong answer shakes the pizza and costs you a life. You have three lives per game.
What Kids Learn
Fractions are one of the trickiest early maths concepts because they require understanding part-whole relationships rather than simple counting. Fraction Pizza makes this concrete by linking the abstract notation (3/4) to a visual model (three out of four slices) that children can see and interact with.
By physically selecting slices, children build the understanding that the denominator tells you how many equal parts the whole is divided into, while the numerator tells you how many parts you are choosing. This foundational understanding prevents the common error of treating fractions as two separate numbers rather than one relationship.
Tips for Parents
Use real food to reinforce the lesson - cut a sandwich into halves, quarters, or thirds and ask your child to identify the fraction. After playing, try asking "if the pizza had 6 slices and you ate 2, what fraction did you eat?" Connecting the game to everyday maths helps concepts stick. If your child struggles with larger denominators like sixths or eighths, encourage them to count all the slices first before selecting any.
